ARROgram #25
Re: 2004-2005 Teacher of the Year Awards
Dear Chief Resident:
One of the goals of ARRO is to promote educational excellence in radiation oncology training programs. Once again, ARRO will implement the annual Teacher of the Year Award for this purpose. The award will serve to recognize outstanding faculty members at each institution. We would like to invite each residency program to submit the name of one faculty member at their program for recognition. The decision should be made with input from the entire group of residents.
Each recipient will be provided with a certificate from ARRO. The list of recipients for 2004-2005 will also be featured on the ARRO Web site. It is hoped that this award will provide encouragement for good teaching. The choice of faculty members should not be limited to clinical staff members. Please consider physicists, biologists or other faculty members, if appropriate. One recipient will be recognized per residency training program.
Please discuss this award with fellow members of your residency program and e-mail the name of your selection for Teacher of the Year to Steve Smith at stevens@astro.org before March 18, 2004 . Please include the name of your institution when responding. Certificates will be mailed out in April.
Many individual residency programs have implemented similar annual teaching awards with great success. We hope that you will choose to participate in the ARRO Annual Teacher of the Year Award. If you have any additional questions feel free to email me at spatel@umm.edu.
